As I sit here, outside, life goes on
Cars pass, coffee is sought and rain starts to pour
Still, I manage to direct thought
The loss of a friend, sudden loss, changing all perspective
Making what should have been a pleasant interlude, very sad
Gone, gone where I can only hope
A gentleman, true to his every word
Inspiring not only my sometimes waning beliefs, but others too
Too many others to contemplate
All now sitting on the same bench thinking the same thing
No need for any tears, my intuition acknowledged
Friendly happy memories, flooding by in what was now a downpour
Flashes from a past which seemed like the present
Placing this man in front of disbelieving eyes
Untouchable but very real
Life must go on and his legacy will remain solid
Ingrained in every heartbeat he influenced
Pounding a message out loud to those who listened
Remembered for all eternity by those who believed
My friend, rest in peace, your life was so worthwhile
