Alan Zoltie

Born in Glasgow, Scotland on the 25th January 1959, which was also the 200th birthday of Robert Burns, THE most famous poet ever to come out of Scotland. “The Bard’ as he is known around the world.

Alan grew up in Scotland and was educated in the public school system on the south side of Glasgow. He was determined from an early age to join the business community in Glasgow and showed promise by making money in his early teens, with a business venture that he started at High school. At 16 he graduated and went to work in a company owned by several partners, one of which was his father. Before too long he was one of the top salespeople at this corporation and he began to show an entrepreneurial and creative flair, which would guide him to success in later life.

Moving South to London in 1978, Alan formed a company with his father called Alan Salter Ltd. This company would grow to be one of the largest and most popular suppliers of promotional items to major corporations in the UK, with clients such as Johnnie Walker, Newsweek and Virgin Records. In the mid 1980’s Alan formed a company called Masterseats. This company pioneered on-course advertising in the golf industry and eventually was sold to a major public company in the UK. Not content with his diversification into the golf industry, Alan then immigrated to the USA in 1992. His entrepreneurial skills took him in several directions, one of which included the invention and patent of a collectable item for sports fans.

In early 2000 Alan formed his next business venture in California providing manufacturing outlets in China for corporations such as Nike and Disney.

In January 2003 Alan decided to write a novel based on some of his experiences in the USA. During a trip to Half Moon Bay in California he was watching the waves crash on to the cliffs when suddenly he wrote a poem based on his thoughts at that time. He had never written poetry before. Since that date, January the 26th 2003, Alan has written more than 5000 poems/song lyrics based on experiences both past and present, whilst continuing to work on his books and run his business at the same time. His poetry has been published in over 40 books and in 15 different languages

Alan has a talent for observing life from a different angle to most and finding a way to explain his thoughts through his writing.

Alan has now published 7 books. Kennel Hill, a poetry anthology about dogs which raised over $20,000 for animal shelters, and two biographical novels, The Secret Masseuse and The Secret Escort, both based on the real-life experiences of ladies working the sex industry in Orange County California. His books, Cardboard City, Poems From Cardboard City and Bob The Jew depict Alan’s real life experiences working with and meeting homeless people all over America. All of his books are available on amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com and other good book sites. Alan donates all of the profits from his writing to charitable causes around the United States.

Alan is currently the holder of 2 US patents, he mentors young adults who have entrepreneurial ambitions and is on the board of several philanthropic organizations.
Alan currently lives in Southern California.
