Redundancy

Twenty-four years, and now nothing, just redundancy
Assisted by a pay off, this, was day one
Lost amongst thoughts and regrets
Coming home, to stay and then to leave

A badge, a clock, a thank you and a closed door
All in the space of a party from hell
Saying goodbye to all who are going the same way
A collection that spans decades and more

No place to hide, no place to go, no place at all
Left to fend for a new life, someplace else
Making way for less, no chance of getting more
A wanderer, like the rest, lost for the foreseeable future and beyond
