Green and white surrounded by red and blue
Finding space in a space less arena
Composed for what will be an eternal fight
The battle of Gorbals cross
No winners, just those who never loose
Vicious rivalry spilling onto bloodless streets
Splitting a divided city into indivisible pieces
Mindless of its internal chaos
Blessed by shortened periods of calm
Held responsible across a country that cares little
Finished and left to simmer
Another day seeing the beginning of another uneasy truce
Giving hope that calm might one day rule
Certain in the knowledge that today is not that day
Ready and willing to re kindle the fire from Hell
With pipes and drums and outright bigotry
Sectarianism spouting terrorist bonds
Brought together inside a cauldron that was once so calm
Filling youthful minds with lack of promise
Showing disdain towards their city that could be so kind
A little thought and long lost courage
Mending fences, now torn and irreplaceable
Ridding in bred fears from the souls of cowards
Building once again some meaning into real life
Settling down to a lifetime of peace in Scotland’s city
