Life Has No Music

Often dramatic, often sad, often happy
Life, moving along at the speed of time
Played out in front of an audience
People, with nowhere to hide
Making the best of their moment
Watched closely by no one in particular
Accompanied by no music
Feeling only the reality of silence

Building often to that crescendo of experience
Looking all around for momentum
Feelings bursting through sensation and desire
Listening closely for an orchestra
Musicians with a head for drama, poised to play, somewhere
Stunned, noting quiet and calm
Falling flat against an inability to imagine
Wishing for Hollywood, which never arrives
