My Darling Daughter

Oh sweet innocence, blending into desire
Fulfilling dreams that may soon be irrelevant
Passing by her youth, and so soon
My darling daughter, trapped in this game called life

Courting such simplistic passions
All grown up at this tender age of transition
Moving quickly into troubled waters
Soon to let go of her ever present protection

Marching down aisles filled with such imagination
Picking up passions, soon to be discarded
Favoring reality whilst fantasy evaporates
Heartache for any father in search of his little angel

Comes a time when all has vanished
Today, an insight to all that shall pass
Gentle reminders of life’s total turmoil
Just now, just a stage where future’s lie in wait
