Newspapers

I picked up a paper this morning
It was the same as yesterdays
In fact, something reminded me of long ago
A time when innocence made coherence impossible
Unable to gauge significance
Unwilling to accept truth

Quote after quote rang bells behind tired eyes
Only the date had changed
Sensationalism and hype always at the forefront
Keenly contesting bragging rights
Developing a dislike for factual confirmation
Knowing that their lies would sell and sell

Black and white and often in color
False color, rendered with such ease
Gloating to an editor, interested only in exclusives
Throwing expletives towards his minions who fail to deliver
Casting doubts on their ability to report
Falling on deaf ears of many who roam pages filled by ignorance
