Convenience

Just a convenience, or so I was told
Treating with respect, a true love
A heavy heart laid bare by this falsehood
Depression and subsequent medication added as an insult
But still just a convenience, in her eyes

Sitting silent, taking in this harshness
Unable to speak, as falsehoods fly
Remembered conversations, twisted to suit
For what it was worth, no response required
Settling back in the face of yet another new dawn

Time to move on, for there is no place for me
Surplus to any requirements
No doubts shed over words fired in haste
A convenience, far from the truth
Conveniently forgotten, everything that was good

There is no fault, no blame, no way back
Her mind made up in a most convenient manner
